Frequently Asked Questions

You should find the answers to all your questions here. However, make sure to contact us directly should you require more information!

Which areas do you serve and when are you available?
We serve the Hull and Aylmer sectors. Service is available 24/7 from November 15 to April 1, including during storms and holidays.

Do you use plow trucks or blowers?
We use only tractors equipped with 92-inch blowers. This method offers several advantages:

  • Snow is blown rather than pushed, leaving more space.
  • Edges are cleaner and more precise for a neat finish.
  • Teflon shoes on the equipment protect asphalt and paving stone.

Is your equipment noisy or harmful to surfaces?
Our blowers are 10 times quieter than a household snowblower and clear a driveway in under 2 minutes. They do not damage asphalt, paving stone, or lawns thanks to proper weight distribution and markers.

What if my driveway is gravel or paving stone?
No problem! We can clear gravel driveways (some gravel may move until the ground freezes). For paving stone, our blowers with Teflon blades greatly reduce the risk of scratches.

At what snow accumulation do you start clearing?
We send out tractors once 5 cm of snow has accumulated.

Will my driveway always be cleared before 6:30 a.m.?
We cannot guarantee a fixed time since it depends on when the snow starts falling:

  • If snow starts before midnight → all driveways are cleared before 6:30 a.m.
  • If snow starts after midnight → 75% cleared before 6:30 a.m., the rest by 8:00 a.m.
  • If snow starts around 3–4 a.m. → tractors go out around 6:00 a.m.

What if the city plow passes after you?
We do regular rounds every 4–5 hours during storms and return after municipal plows pass.

What if a car blocks my driveway?
Our operators go around it and return later (5–6 hours after) to finish the job. To help, please park vehicles on the side or on the street when possible.

What is the contract period and how much snow is covered?
Contract: November 15 to April 1
Includes up to 300 cm of snow per season.
Beyond that, a $50 fee applies to cover the rest of the season.

What if I move?
We transfer your contract to your new address (within our service area). No refunds if you move outside the covered zone.

What are my responsibilities as a client?

  • Ensure the water valve is level with the asphalt.
  • Trim low branches (tractors are 10.5 ft tall).
  • Remove vehicles and objects (bins, toys, ropes) from the driveway before storms.

How can I reach you during a storm?
We have 3–4 operators available, plus an automated system and updates on Facebook. You can also leave a message (address + phone + reason).

What communication options are available?
Phone, email, in person, or via Facebook. Our office staff will be happy to assist you.

Do you offer discounts?
Yes! A substantial discount is offered to clients who sign their contract before October 15 (standard driveway).

What payment methods do you accept?
Cheque, credit card (Visa, MasterCard), cash, or online payment.

Are you insured?
Yes, we carry $2,000,000 in liability insurance.

What if my driveway or property is damaged?
Our operators must report any incident. Repairs are done in the spring, except in urgent cases. Items left in the driveway (garbage bins, toys, basketball nets, etc.) are not covered.

Do your operators receive training?
Yes. Every October, all operators complete technical and hands-on training on routes, safety, and equipment use. Simulations are done before the first snowfall to be ready.

How many tractors do you have?
We operate 60 modern tractors, all GPS-equipped to optimize routes.

Do you spread salt?
No, because it damages lawns. Sanding for ice is the homeowner’s responsibility.

When are the driveway markers installed and removed?
Installed before November 1 and removed in early April.

What if snow is blown onto my neighbor’s property?
Contact us the next day and we’ll correct the situation promptly.

Is there a program for clients 70 and over?
Yes. The government program allows a 23% tax credit on home service expenses.

What is the average snowfall in Ottawa?
According to Environment Canada, the 5-year average is 191.28 cm.

Do you provide summer services?
Yes, through Groupe Vert Plus Inc.: fertilization, aeration, landscaping, and more → www.groupevertplus.ca
